Monier Tile Roofing,
done the right way.
New Monier tile roofs, full tile roof replacement, re-bedding, re-pointing and restoration across Sydney — concrete and terracotta, handled by our own team.
Why Monier tiles
A tile roof is only as good as the work underneath it.
Most tile roof problems we're called out to aren't the tiles themselves — they're the bedding, the pointing, the valleys and the sarking. Anyone can lay tiles. The work that keeps a roof watertight for the next thirty years happens before the last tile goes on.
We work with the full Monier range across concrete and terracotta, and we'll tell you honestly whether your roof needs replacing or restoring.
A trusted Australian tile
Monier has been making roof tiles in Australia for generations. The profiles, accessories and colours are consistent and readily available.
Concrete and terracotta
Concrete tiles for value and strength, terracotta for depth of colour and longevity. We'll talk you through both against your house and your budget.
Suits Sydney's housing stock
Much of Sydney is tiled. Keeping a tile roof — done properly — often sits better with the street, the era of the home and council expectations.
Individually replaceable
Damaged tiles can be swapped one at a time, which keeps long-term repairs simple and inexpensive.
Strong thermal mass
A tile roof holds and releases heat slowly, which helps even out temperature swings in the roof space.
Quiet in heavy rain
Tiles are noticeably quieter than steel during a Sydney downpour — a real consideration for bedrooms under the roofline.
What we install
Monier tile roofing work we take on
New Monier tile roofs
Complete tile roofing for new homes and extensions, laid to the correct pitch, batten spacing and lap.
Tile roof replacement
Full strip and re-tile, including sarking, battens and new valleys — not just a cosmetic cover-up.
Re-bedding and re-pointing
Ridge capping re-bedded with fresh mortar and re-pointed with flexible pointing that moves with the roof instead of cracking off it.
Broken and slipped tiles
Cracked, slipped or previously patched tiles replaced with matching profiles wherever they're still available.
Valley and flashing renewal
Rusted valleys are one of the most common causes of leaks in older Sydney tile roofs. We replace them properly.
Roof plumbing and guttering
Gutters, downpipes and stormwater renewed at the same time so the whole system works together.

Restore or replace?
Signs your tile roof needs attention
Not every tired-looking roof needs replacing. We'll inspect it, show you what we find and give you the honest option — restoration where it makes sense, full replacement where it doesn't.
- Water stains on ceilings or cornices after heavy rain
- Cracked or crumbling mortar along the ridge capping
- Tiles that have slipped, lifted or broken
- Rust showing in the valleys
- Debris and moss holding moisture on the roof
- Gutters overflowing at the same spot every storm
Good to know
Common questions about tile roofing
- What's the difference between re-bedding and re-pointing?
- Re-bedding replaces the mortar bed the ridge capping sits on. Re-pointing seals over that bed with a flexible compound. A proper job usually needs both — pointing over failed bedding won't last.
- Can you match my existing tiles?
- Often yes, depending on the profile and its age. If an exact match is no longer produced we'll show you the closest available option before starting.
- Should I switch from tiles to metal instead?
- Sometimes it's the better call, particularly for extensions or lower-pitched sections. We'll give you both options and the reasoning, not a sales pitch.
- Do you replace the sarking and battens too?
- On a full replacement, yes — that's the point of doing it once. We assess the condition and include what's needed in the written quote.
